Happy Hippo Oats Recipe

If you’re looking for a fun and delicious breakfast, these Happy Hippo Oats will definitely put a smile on your face! Packed with protein, fiber, and a little bit of sweetness from my favorite childhood treat, Happy Hippo, this breakfast is sure to energize you for the day ahead. Plus, it’s easy to make and comes together in just a few minutes perfect for busy mornings. Let’s dive into this creamy, chocolatey, and fun-filled bowl of oats!

Method

Cook the Oats

Start by adding your oats to a microwave-safe bowl. Cover the oats with water and stir them well so the oats are evenly soaked. Microwave the mixture for about 1 minute and 30 seconds, then carefully check the consistency. If it looks a little dry, you can add a splash of water and stir before microwaving again. This step helps to soften the oats and get them ready to blend with the other ingredients.

Add the Courgette and Protein Paste

Once your oats are cooked and soft, it’s time to stir in the grated courgette (zucchini). The courgette adds a nice texture and hidden nutrients without changing the flavor too much! Then, mix the protein paste into the oats. To make the paste, you’ll have already combined the white chocolate whey isolate with almond milk. Add the protein paste into the cooked oats and courgette, stirring well to make sure everything is mixed evenly. If the mixture seems too thick, feel free to add a little extra water to get the perfect consistency. After that, microwave the oats for another 1 minute and 30 seconds to allow all the flavors to meld together.

Top It Off

After the oats are done cooking, it’s time to get creative with your toppings! Start by adding the chopped strawberries and a generous dollop of skyr yogurt on top. Then, break up your Happy Hippo and Kinder chocolate bar and sprinkle the pieces over the oats for that yummy chocolatey surprise in every bite. Finally, drizzle everything with a bit of @sweetfreedom syrup to add a touch of sweetness and make the dish extra special.

Enjoy

Give everything one last gentle stir to combine the layers of protein, fruit, and chocolate. Now, dig in and enjoy this creamy, chocolatey, and healthy bowl of oats that’s sure to keep you satisfied and energized!

Notes

  • Water levels. Make sure to cover your oats with water in the first step. If you add too little, they may burn, and too much can make them watery.
  • Microwave times: Every microwave is different, so keep an eye on your oats as they cook. If they start bubbling over, stop and stir before continuing to cook.
  • Mix-ins: The grated courgette might seem unusual, but it adds a great texture and sneaky veggie boost. Make sure it’s well mixed so you don’t get big chunks.

Serving Suggestions

  • This bowl of oats is already loaded with sweetness and protein, but if you’re craving even more flavor, try adding a handful of nuts or seeds like chia or almonds.
  • Pair it with a cup of coffee or tea for the ultimate morning boost!
