Hey, breakfast lovers! If you’re someone who thinks chocolate is only for dessert, then you haven’t met my Choc-Nutty Oats yet! This bowl of goodness is packed with the rich, creamy flavors of chocolate, nuts, and a smooth whey protein kick. Whether you’re rushing to start your day or looking for a delicious breakfast to fuel your morning workout, this breakfast bowl has got you covered. Plus, it’s full of protein to keep you energized and satisfied. Let’s dive into the recipe and make this Monday (or any day) a whole lot sweeter!

Method

Prep the Oats

Start by placing your oats into a microwave-safe bowl or tub. Pour enough water to cover the oats, ensuring that the oats are fully submerged. Stir the mixture gently to ensure the oats are evenly distributed and the water is well combined. Then, place the bowl in the microwave and cook on high for 1 minute. This will allow the oats to soften and start absorbing the water, giving them that perfect texture.

Mix the Magic

While your oats are cooking, grab a small bowl and prepare the chocolatey goodness that will make your oats so delicious. Add 20g of chocolate peanut whey protein and 1 tablespoon of cacao powder into the bowl. Then, pour in a small splash of almond milk, just enough to form a smooth, paste-like consistency. Stir it well until all the ingredients are combined and there are no lumps. Once your oats are done, mix this paste into the warm oats and stir thoroughly to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.

Add Some Creaminess

At this point, your oats might be a bit thick, so it’s time to add a little extra creaminess. Add a small splash of water to the oats, and stir to combine. This will help loosen up the mixture and give the oats a more velvety texture. After mixing, return the bowl to the microwave for an additional 60-90 seconds, depending on your microwave’s power. Be sure to keep an eye on it while cooking to prevent it from overflowing, as oats can sometimes bubble up. Once the oats are nice and fluffy, carefully remove the bowl from the microwave.

Top it Off

Now comes the fun part adding all those delicious toppings! Start by spooning 30g of Skyr yogurt onto the oats. The creamy texture of the yogurt will add a luxurious richness to the bowl. Then, sprinkle 5g of crushed peanuts for that satisfying crunch. Next, toss in 35g of frozen raspberries to balance out the sweetness with a burst of tartness. Finally, drizzle 12g of hazelnut whey duo spread on top for that smooth, indulgent finish. Stir everything together to ensure the toppings are well incorporated, or leave them as a topping to enjoy in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 55g oats (I use old-fashioned oats for that perfect texture)

  • 20g chocolate peanut whey protein (I love the @foodspring_uk one!)

  • A dash of almond milk (for extra creaminess)

  • 1 tbsp cacao powder (chocolate lovers, rejoice!)

  • Toppings

  • 30g Skyr yogurt (for a thick, creamy finish)

  • 5g crushed peanuts (a little crunch never hurt anyone!)

  • 35g frozen raspberries (to balance out the sweetness with a tart bite)

  • 12g hazelnut whey duo spread (@foodspring_uk is my go-to for this!)

Directions

  • Prep the oats. Start by placing your oats into a microwave-safe bowl or tub. Pour enough water to cover the oats. Stir and microwave for 1 minute.
  • Mix the magic. In a small bowl, mix the chocolate peanut whey protein with the cacao powder and a splash of almond milk. Stir until you get a smooth paste, then mix it in with the oats.
  • Add some creaminess. If your oats are too thick, add a splash more water and stir. Pop it back in the microwave for 60-90 seconds. Keep an eye on it so it doesn’t overflow!
  • Top it off. Once your oats are cooked and fluffy, remove them from the microwave. Stir well, then add the Skyr yogurt, crushed peanuts, frozen raspberries, and the hazelnut whey duo spread on top.

Notes

  • Be sure to keep an eye on your oats while they’re in the microwave. They can bubble over if left too long!
  • Add the almond milk and water slowly to adjust the texture. You can always add more, but you can’t take it away once it’s too watery!
  • When microwaving, stir your oats between cycles to make sure they cook evenly.

Serving Suggestions

  • If you’re feeling fancy, drizzle some extra cacao or honey for an extra burst of flavor.
  • For a bigger breakfast, pair this bowl with a side of scrambled eggs or a fruit smoothie.
  • Don’t like raspberries? Swap them for other berries, like blueberries or strawberries.

Fun Fact

Did you know oats are one of the best whole grains to start your day with? They’re packed with fiber, which helps keep you full longer. So not only is this breakfast delicious, but it’s also good for your health!

Conclusion

Whether you’re a chocolate fanatic or just looking for a nutritious and yummy start to your day, this Choc-Nutty Oats bowl is the way to go. It’s quick, easy, and totally customizable with your favorite toppings. So, grab your oats, protein powder, and toppings, and let’s get to making breakfast fun and delicious!
