Toasted Cheeseburger Wrap 

Okay, I know it might not look super fancy… but this toasted cheeseburger wrap? It’s seriously SO GOOD. It’s juicy, cheesy, saucy, and crispy all in one bite. I threw it together one day when I was craving a cheeseburger but wanted something a little different (and easier to clean up after). Spoiler alert  it turned out better than I imagined.This wrap has all the cheeseburger vibes but in a crispy, warm tortilla. Trust me, once you try it, you’ll be hooked.

Method

Sauté the Onion

Start by placing a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add a little spray of oil if needed, then toss in your chopped onion. Let it cook slowly, stirring now and then, until it turns soft and golden. This usually takes about 5–7 minutes. Cooking the onion first adds sweetness and depth to your filling, so don’t rush this step.

Add the Beef

Next, crumble the ground beef into the pan with the sautéed onion. Break it apart with a spatula or wooden spoon as it cooks. Keep stirring and moving the meat around the pan so it browns evenly and doesn’t stick. This should take another 6–8 minutes, or until the beef is fully cooked and no pink bits remain.

Flavor It Up

Once the beef is browned, add in the tomato purée and Worcestershire sauce. Stir everything together well so the sauce coats all the meat. Let it simmer for another 2–3 minutes. The tomato adds richness, and the Worcestershire brings that perfect burger flavor.

Build the Wrap

Now it’s time to assemble. Lay one tortilla flat on a clean surface or plate. Start by spreading 1 tablespoon of burger sauce in the center. Then layer on a small handful of shredded lettuce, followed by about 1/4 of your beef mixture. Lay 1 and a half slices of cheese on top of the beef, and drizzle with 1 tablespoon of ketchup. Keep everything in the middle so you have room to fold.

Wrap It Tight

Carefully fold the sides of the tortilla inward, then roll it up tightly from the bottom, like a burrito. Make sure the ends are tucked in so nothing spills out while it cooks. The tighter the wrap, the better it holds together and toasts evenly.

Toast to Perfection

Lightly spray the outside of the wrap with cooking spray (like Fry Light). This helps the tortilla crisp up without needing oil. Place the wrap seam-side down in your air fryer basket or on a baking tray if using an oven. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for about 5–7 minutes. You want the outside golden brown and crispy, and the cheese inside perfectly melty. If using the oven, flip the wrap halfway through to toast both sides evenly.

  • 1 tbsp tomato purée

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 4 large tortilla wraps

  • 4 tbsp burger sauce

  • 1 handful of shredded lettuce (per wrap)

  • 6 slices of cheese (1.5 per wrap)

  • 4 tbsp ketchup

  • Fry light spray or any cooking spray

Directions

  • Sauté the onion. Heat your frying pan over medium heat and toss in the chopped onion. Cook until it’s soft and golden.
  • Add the beef. Throw in the ground beef and cook it through. Break it up with your spoon as it browns.
  • Flavor it. Add the tomato purée and Worcestershire sauce. Stir it all together so the beef soaks up that tasty flavor.
  • Build the wrap. Lay a tortilla on a flat surface. Spread 1 tbsp of burger sauce in the middle. Add a handful of lettuce, 1/4 of the beef mix, 1.5 slices of cheese, and 1 tbsp of ketchup.
  • Wrap it tight. Fold in the sides and roll it up like a burrito. Make sure it’s snug so nothing falls out!
  • Toast it. Spray your wrap with fry light. Pop it in the air fryer or oven (at 400°F / 200°C) for 5–7 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill the wrap too much filling will make it hard to close and might spill out during cooking.
  • Make sure to wrap it tightly. Loose wraps won’t toast evenly.
  • If using an oven instead of an air fryer, flip the wrap halfway so both sides get crispy.
  • Let it cool for a minute after toasting cheese can be super hot and melty inside.

  • Serve with a side of air-fried fries or sweet potato wedges.
  • Add pickles or jalapeños inside for a kick.
  • Dip in extra burger sauce or spicy mayo on the side.
